Will You Join Us?

We love basketball. But our primary objective is to help our youth become socially conscious, civic minded and community driven adults. We do this by promoting strong leadership skills that yields productive young citizens who are actively engaged in their communities.

iNeXT is an innovative program that strives to bring that vision to a reality.

We aspire to be a ‘hub’ where youth (and their parents) from across the Central Ohio region can become engaged in their community by participating in philanthropic activities. In doing so, participants will learn important life lessons.

Participation is open to all civic-minded youth (and their parents), and is not limited to current or past participants in the next basketball programs!

Join the iNeXT volunteer corp! Complete the form below to be added to the email distribution list to be notified of upcoming youth-oriented volunteer and community service opportunities.

Project 1st Step

NeXT is excited to partner with Soles4Souls and Jeni’s Ice cream this summer in making a difference in the lives of those who struggle with having one decent pair of shoes.

Something as simple as shoes plays a large role in the lives of those who live in abject poverty. Every day round the world there are children prevented from attending school, and adults are unable to work because walking becomes unbearable without one pair of serviceable shoes. A new pair of shoes provides relief today so thousands can succeed tomorrow.

On July 28, 2016 – the last day of our NeXT Summer Series – NeXT will be taking shoe donations at Upper Arlington High School from 6-8pm. Over 80 kids and their parents who will be participating in our 8-week summer program will also be participating in our 1st step campaign to make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Often all that is needed is for us to take the first step and decide to do our part. The steps need not be momentous; all that is required is to take that 1st step.

We believe it’s our responsibility to help. We hope you take the 1st step with us.

Project: We Got U Covered

Project: We Got U Covered – Winter 2016-17

No matter rain, snow or cold weather, we at NeXT Got U Covered.  Join us this winter as we make our “home” games about others and not us by donating kids coats for young people in need.

Our message as an organization is simple and clear:

Purpose:
To develop a servant’s heart in young people.

Mission:
Enabling today’s youth athletes to be a tomorrow’s community leaders by redefining the goals of youth sports.

Vision:
Through their involvement in youth athletics, participants are socially conscious, civic minded and community driven.

NeXT is passionate about improving the ROI of youth sports. We can do more. We must do more. Winning, competing and improving skills are important when it comes to athletics, but the lessons have to be greater than those items. This is why we’re asking you to partner with us this basketball season in donating coats for those who happen to be less fortunate.

I wish I could tell why this is so important to me but it just is. I want to make a difference. I want accomplish something meaningful, long lasting in the area of youth sports.

I need your help. NeXT needs your help.

Every NeXT home game we will be asking each visiting team to bring as many new and gently used coats – in trash bags – as they can. These coats will be provided to Moler Elementary (1201 Moler Rd, Columbus, OH 43207) three different times over the winter.

The coats are for 5th and 6th graders, and range in size: Yth Med-XLG & Adult Small-Med.

It’s real simple, and important… NeXT’s wants to make a child feel rich this winter, NeXT’s wants to give a family hope this Holiday Season.

NeXT’s wants to give a child a coat, and a memory for a lifetime.

Thanks,
Shawn

Learn about Project PB & J

Project: PB & J

Our goal is to help young people understand what it means to make a difference.

The Driven Foundation in Columbus, Ohio is doing exceptional work in serving those in need; in making a difference.  NeXT Basketball Foundation is proud and excited to once again support the Driven Holiday Food Outreach program, led by OSU football star Roy Hall.

During Project: PB&J, we reach out to our neighbors, family and friends to collect as many jars of peanut butter and jelly as possible, and contribute them to the food drive.  Equally important, NeXT volunteers participate during the actual food drive event in helping to organize and sort through the collected items, pack boxes and load cars for the recipients of the food drive.

Last year our team donated over 750 jars of peanut butter and jelly.  This year our goal is 1500 jars of peanut butter & jelly.  We would love for you to partner with us in this important endavor.

Please feel free to join us at Moler Elementary  (1201 Moler Rd, Columbus, OH 43207) on Saturday, December the 17th from 1:30 – 3pm.

This is a powerful and impactful volunteer opportunity. And it is a lot of fun!

Learn about Stuff the Backpack

Stuff the Backpack

NeXT is partnering with NBC4, PrimaryOne Health and CME Federal Credit Union on the Stuff the Backpack fundraiser, with the goal of providing a backpack filled with school supplies to each of the nearly 102,000 students in the Columbus City School & Licking county school districts.

Pens, pencils, scissors, and paper are just some of the simple school supplies many local families may not be able to afford. Many times, teachers need to purchase supplies with their own money just to ensure their students have the necessities.

“School supplies are incredibly important. When they come unprepared to not fault of their own it has a big impact on them and it can sort of make and break sometimes how they feel about school and how they feel about being here and doing work and having support,” says Holly Eichman, a kindergarten teacher at Winterset Elementary School.

With your help, we can stuff backpacks and give every student from day one all of the supplies they need.

Our need – and my ask – is for our organization to raise/donate $5000 for us to be one of the presenting sponsors, and to donate our time and any school supplies on Aug 10th from 8am – noon at NBC4. Along with helping our community this is great exposure for The NeXT Basketball Foundation and our mission in developing a servants heart in young athletes ancestral Ohio.
